January 13th 2020 marked same-sex marriage now being made legal in Northern Ireland. This legislation marked an enormous step forward for the LGBT community after years of campaigning for marriage equality. With this in mind, I wanted to celebrate with a styled shoot! It was time to collaborate and get creative!
This marked my first time EVER organising something like this, and hands down to those who organise these day in and day out – even setting a date can be difficult! I definitely wanted a great team of vendors but also for the shoot to be a little different. It was trying to bring a modern and effortlessly cool vibe, whilst also considering spring wedding trends coming through to help brides with inspiration.
When Rashida Keenan Photography and Maria McGuinness from Scissor Sisters Hair Salon agreed to come on board I was delighted! These two ladies are amongst the top in their field, and I knew their work would get people talking. Lynne from the Merchant Hotel helped us with the venue, Declan from Filmitstudios agreed to come film, Ivy and White supplied stunning gowns, Kathryn’s Flower Barn created two masterpieces and Donna Mackin stepped in with a bespoke headpiece which you can see Alish showcase below.
The date was set, model call completed and thankfully the rest fell into place. Sarah and Alish, both hailing from Malahide, Dublin, were only recently married at the beautiful Darver Castle so this city chic, edgy themed shoot would be totally different from their own Irish castle wedding.
Check out the photographs from the event – these images speak for themselves! I think they almost broke social media last Wednesday night. What an UNREAL collaboration with an UNREAL team of Northern Ireland Wedding Suppliers.
